Senate Bill 1200, Statutes of 2012, provided for an update of the California Common Core State Standards: English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects (CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy). The CA CCSS for ELA/Literacy were modified on March 13, 2013, following the recommendation of State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, to include the addition of the College and Career Readiness Anchor Standards and technical changes.
